Italian driver Alessandro Pierguidi  was quickest in the first free practice of the GT4 European Cup weekend in Paul Ricard. The French weekend sees the arrival of the Maserari Granturismo GT4 and with first place in the opening session, the Italian car made a fine debut. Championship leader Paul Meijer was second in his Aston Martin GT4, followed by his eternal rival Michael Mallock, as well in an Aston.  The IMS Ginetta was fourth, with in fifth the second JMB Maserati. Giannni Guidici set best time in Supersport.
